Jason Broadbentdrawings

Thinking of sitting?

A clear start,
with room to change.

This is a simple record of the conversation between you and Jason: what the sitting involves, what feels comfortable, and what may happen to the drawings afterwards.

The working agreement

What we are both
agreeing to.

01

A relaxed sitting

A sitting is usually around two hours, including conversation, drinks, breaks and several shorter poses. You will not be asked to hold one position throughout.

02

Ongoing consent

You choose what you wear, which poses feel right and when to pause. Either you or Jason can stop the sitting at any point. A choice made now can change later.

03

Clear boundaries

The sitting is an artistic collaboration, not a sexual or romantic situation. The studio is private and both people agree to treat one another with care and respect.

04

The drawing, not a photo

Jason does not take reference photographs of sitters during the session. The drawings are expressive interpretations rather than photographic likenesses.

05

Your choices travel with the work

Jason photographs finished drawings only where agreed below. Public sharing, exhibitions, his wider project and the use of your name are separate choices.

06

Jason reads this too

Jason will review your answers before the sitting and talk through them with you. The form records the starting point; the conversation continues in the room.

The original drawings remain part of Jason’s artistic practice unless you both agree something different. Copies or prints can be discussed separately.

Your choices

Tell Jason what
feels right.

There are no preferred answers here. “No” and “let’s discuss it” are as welcome as “yes”. Required fields are marked with an asterisk.

01 About you
02 The sitting

What feels like the right starting point for clothing? *

This is only a starting point. You can change it before or during the sitting.

03 The finished drawings

Choose one answer on each line. Jason will follow these choices and check again if anything changes.

Private studio record

May Jason photograph the finished drawings for his private records?

Website & social media

May images of the drawings be shared online?

Exhibitions & publications

May the drawings appear in exhibitions, catalogues or presentations?

I Became Changed

May the drawings be considered for Jason’s wider project of sketches, writing and audio?

04 Privacy & identity

How may your identity be connected to the work? *

Jason’s usual approach is not to name sitters, but the choice is yours.

Please share only what is useful for the sitting. You do not need to explain or justify a boundary.

05 Confirm & send

Submitting this form records your choices and sends them to Jason’s private studio inbox. Jason will review them with you before the sitting begins.

You can change any optional permission by emailing studio@jasonbroadbent.com. A change applies to future uses Jason controls; it cannot undo an exhibition, printed publication or sharing that has already happened.

Typing your name is your electronic confirmation of the choices above.

How this form is stored and used

Who is responsible: Jason Broadbent, contactable at studio@jasonbroadbent.com.

What is kept: your contact details, the choices and notes you submit, the agreement version, submission time and a unique reference. Your internet address is not stored in the consent record.

Why: to arrange and safely run the sitting, record what was agreed, and follow your separate choices about documenting or showing the artwork. Optional public use relies on your consent; the basic agreement record is also kept for the legitimate interest of running an accountable art practice.

Where: the record is held in Jason’s private Cloudflare database and a copy is sent to his studio mailbox. Cloudflare provides hosting, storage and bot protection; IONOS provides the studio mailbox.

How long: the record is reviewed at least every three years and kept only while it is needed to respect your choices, manage the artwork or document the permission relied on. It is not used for marketing.

Your choices and rights: you can ask to see, correct or delete information, or withdraw an optional permission, by emailing Jason. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. This working agreement does not remove any of your legal rights.
